MOUNTAIN HIKE TO CHERSKY PEAK
This wilderness adventure is as a complement to tours of Lake Baikal in order to fully enjoy and enhance the experience and appreciation of the the natural beauty of Siberia.
Our favorite winter offer, which presents the challenging task of going on a mountain hike and completing it within just two days of the weekend.
ROUTE ITINERARY: Irkutsk — Slyudyanka — Tourist base “Meteostantsyia» — Chersky Peak (height 2090 m) — Irkutsk
WHAT WE HAVE TO DO:
Day 1:
- Travel by a comfortable crossover from Irkutsk city to the town of Slyudyanka, which is 115 km away and the starting point of the Circum-Baikal Railway.
- Go up the mountains on warm snowmobile sleds accompanied by two guides. The journey takes around 2.5 hours.
- Enjoy the mountain environment by inhaling the fresh air, relaxing in a snowdrift, and indulging in a tasty meal.
- Embark on a hiking excursion to Chersky Peak in order to capture an ideal photo opportunity with the sunset mountains in the backdrop.
- Go down to the camp, where one can warm up in Russian banya(sauna), spend the night in a real winter quarters with a wood stove.
- Go outside to look at the stars over Khamar-Daban range mountains at night.
Day 2:
- Engage in outdoor activities such as a mountain walk on a snowmobile and tubing down from the slopes in the morning.
- arrange a photoshoot in the pristine snowdrifts of Pribaikaliya.
Guides’ bonus is the opportunity to operate a snowmobile on a secure course!
